To reiterate the relationship and commitment between India and ASEAN countries, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, along with Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) and NASSCOM and a number of partners from leading local institutions in Indonesia such as MASTEL (Telecommunication Society), ISD (Indonesia Services Dialogue Council), FTII (Indonesian Information Technology Federation), ITF (Indonesia Technology Forum), IDEA (Indonesian E-commerce Association), and APJII (Association Internet Organizer Indonesia) hosted “India-ASEAN ICT Expo” at Hotel Shangri-La, Jakarta on 6-7 December 2017. The event brought together over 45+ ICT companies from India and many more from ICT sector from Indonesia and ASEAN countries as well. India-ASEAN ICT Expo is international event to build partnership between India and ASEAN in ICT Industry. India has experience to build ICT industry base in education, mobile broadband connectivity, software and application, and so many aspects of ICT.
This 1st India ASEAN ICT Expo in Jakarta has special significance not only for India and Indonesia but also for entire ASEAN. India and ASEAN are observing 25 years of their Dialogue Partnership, 15 years of Summit Level interaction and 5 years of Strategic Partnership throughout 2017 by undertaking a wide range of activities, both in India and through our Missions in ASEAN Member States, which would culminate in a Commemorative Summit on the theme "Shared Values, Common Destiny.” This event was one of the event to commemorate 25th year of Dialogue Partnership.
This Event was organized with the theme “India ASEAN Digital Connectivity” to get benefit of 1 billion line of credit and to discuss potential Digital connectivity projects. During inauguration of Conference, Indonesia, Laos and Vietnam shared their ICT vision. There were 8 thematic sessions on Digital Dreams of Nations; Innovation to Impact; Network Infrastructure Development; Mobile Technology, Mobile Regulatory & Policy, Mobile Services & Vas, Mobile Devices; Cloud Computing; Security of Networks, E-Enabled Services and Applications; Economic Development and Transformation; Technology Empowerment in Connected ASEAN. We organised bilateral with Laos and Vietnam and discussed Digital Connectivity Projects. There was delegation from Malaysia as well. There were structured bilateral meetings with Indonesia, Laos PDR, Vietnam, Malaysia (REDTONE) & Other B2B Meetings.
The exhibition saw participation from Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos and Vietnam along with more than 45 companies from India
The participation at the summit saw representation from all stakeholders like Policy makers, leading international consulting organizations, leading buyer organizations, SME service providers, international & Local BPO service providers, academicians, bureaucrats, local industry etc. The forum provided all the attendees with an opportunity to understand the emerging landscape of services in the ICT Sector and the incentives and impetus that the Government is putting in to make this industry successful. It also provided the attendees with the wider window to the world where this industry is heading. Attendees had an opportunity to meet one-on-one with numerous prospective investors, service providers and prospective clients.
